The importance of having and nurturing a vital foundation

The first principle deals with the essential foundation from which to create everything from.

I use the term nurturing rather than building, because I believe we should only create what we authentically care for – just by doing that we would impact the planet in a better and more sustainable way – and keep nurturing that foundation with attention, insight, like you would a seed, a plant.

It is not a one-time thing. Go back to nurture that foundation again and again. Only then will you have it so close to you that everything you create comes much more naturally and intuitively. Everyone in the team can feel it and work from it. You can deepen it in relation to what’s going on in society, and new learnings.

When you work with me I believe you already know quite a lot about what’s important, and my job, as a designer, is to get to know and create from that foundation. Either it’s crystal clear, than what we do is kind of a translation into the physical, or if it’s a bit vaguer, then we’ll work to focus, dig deeper and to visualize and manifest values into tangible design choices.

First Dream Lab launched, and it was all about the tools, mindset, time, and space to nurture and visualize the foundation. Because that’s where everything starts.

In Dream Lab we master the tools to manifest dreams and visualize ideas with moodboards and visionboards. We also use Persona-techniques to focus our attention on who we’re serving, set up a community and also bring forward who we need to be to be able to realize our dreams.

I run this 2-day course with the female creative business coach By Annavogel and we’re nurturing our foundational concept with this, dreaming and scheming about live jazz, experimental food and wine tastings to inspire the participants, checking in with luxurious pyjamas into kind of an artsy factory hotel experience…to be continued…

Interested to join the next Dream Lab? Possibly in May. Send your e-mail here, and we’ll keep you updated (non binding).

Keep giving attention, work and dedication to the foundation you already have. To add depth, layers, and also just to keep it fresh, contemporary. Detail from a very simple rip and glue-moodboard me and Anna Vogel did to see where we’re heading with Dream Lab.

I’m doing an Artist Talk about the Sequence Screens, launched at Dahl Agenturer.

A solid foundation can also inspire when sharing your finished creations

Here you see me at the Artist Talk at Dahl Agenturer, when the Sequence screens from our Atelier Collection Les Objet were launched during Stockholm Design Week.

Apart from talking about different features and choices, I also gave “behind the scenes” insights about what inspired the idea to begin with. A kind of synergetic layered concept between the sheer spatial dividers from my childhood, from layers of the early morning fetched and hung fishing nets, and the beauty of the stretched weft in a loom. From that a wish to make it possible to create a variation of patterns from different directions.

The Sequence Screens are now available for orders via our agency Dahl Agenturer. Discover all the different variations here. And what we really love, is to create project bespoke screens, paint the frames in linseed paint or satin wood oil, perfectly matching your projects, help you put together combinations of different screens, and we even paint part of the yarn surface.

Let’s create your bespoke versions together!

An inspirational material board from Maison Entiere, Monday Moodboard week 3 2023.

Moodboards and material boards are all part of the tools for creating foundational design concepts. Every Monday I share a moodboard or a material board from a project, or a concept I’m exploring.

Follow @maisonentiere on instagram here and let my #mondaymoodboard give you a creative start of the week!
